Michigan law (MCL 211.7u) provides for a reduction in property taxes for eligible, low-income homeowners.
The first step to filing your Homestead Property Tax Return and income tax return is to get your income documentation in order.
You may have withholdings from your paycheck or retirement income. Filing a federal income tax return could return all or a portion of those withholdings to you.
You may have state withholdings from your paycheck or retirement income. You may file a Michigan income tax return in tandem with your federal income tax return.
